Money: A Suicide Note Customer Review: The only Martin Amis Novel worth reading
Once upon a time young Martin got a lot of adolescent novels published on the strenth of being Kingsley's boy. Later his novelistic output became ridiculously mannered as he affected knowledge of all things proletarian, criminal, violent and unpleasant. In between, he wrote this which is really pretty funny and a horribly accurate insight into how awfully pathetic men can be - plus some good essays and criticism. But even here he can't avoid the lame and obvious gaggery that is the hallmark of so much of his work. 'John Self' - a car called a 'Fiasco' ';Selina Street' - Sorry Marty it's a bit crap. But not half as crap as the steaming pile that is London Fields.
